There are these days where I do my research and I do some window shopping along the way and I manage to find something which cost say $1000 but I will shake my head, have a little rant over it and make sure I keep that money in my wallet because it absolutely isn’t worth it. Well, it’s not, not worth it but it’s just not worth it…today. Because I have my tired tight-ass days just as we all do. This has inspired me to do a little “Make it” component because I find that sometimes it is easier to be crafty than it is to splash out the cash. Here is how you can channel the runway accessory look thanks to Dries Van Noten neckpieces.

PS; I am actually yet to make this but I am pretty sure that I’m not too far off from the actual designer concept so don’t mind me if there is tweaking to be done. I will post up pictures of my own Dries Van Noten inspired piece when I do have the time to do it.
What do you need?
- Black velvet ribbon (Approx 30cm)
- Various bangles and rings of all shapes, colours and sizes. (It looks best when you stick to one theme)
- Vintage rings
- Big beads and buttons
What to do?
- Knot the top of one end of the ribbon leaving about an 8cm gap from the edge of the ribbon to the centre area.
- Tie the first ring to the knot so that the rings don’t fall off the string.
- Thread through some vintage rings of all shapes, colours and sizes to the end of the knot.
- Finish that section by tying another ring in a knot so that you can start the other section.
- Put your bangles through the string in a fancy order to best achieve the desired result.
- Knot the edge to finish off leaving extra string space at the end of the neckpiece to tie on.
- Tie back edges together to complete.

And there you have rags to runway almost instantly! If you do decide to make one, please, please email me some pictures of your fabulous piece so I can check out how it went!

I have to admit that I absolutely loved the Chloe Fall/Winter 08 show. I did not mind the embellishments and the excessive chiffon dresses here and there. I didn't even mind those crazy flat pointed ankle boots! That is, until it started spamming at Net-a-porter. I have never really taken a liking to short flat pointy shoes. I remember the last time I bought a pair of boots like that, they were on sale for $180 from $590 and I never actually wore them because when I did, I felt like I have bird's feet. Like pointy flippers on, plus they did nothing for my legs which is still quite a shocker. Yes, I don't know why I bought them at all but I do know that some things look best on the runway, and when it comes to the crazy flat-but-pointy Chloe boots, this is a piece which is harder to pull of than it looks. I totally (kind of) understand how guys must feel about Cockaroach killers (the shoes with the super flat pointed fronts). These should be reserved only for the brave...so all we can assume now is that Agyness Deyn may be rocking a pair soon...and wearing it well.

Ellery Poissons Backless Sequin Dress: $1500.00 at Le Black Book.
It is as if that after P. Diddy's famously iconic White Party in the Hamptons has caused some amazing Upper East Side luxury trends as you probably saw last week on the new season of Gossip Girl. I have to say that I totally loved what the characters wore especially Serena's completely laid back and utterly ethereal gorgeous ensemble. As a result, it has inspired me to go (window) shopping for some more incredible substitutes which can bring about a similar look. Vera Wang does a perfect job but it will set you back $2480. Are you up for it? Looking fabulous has it's price, but is the price too high? You know you love me. XOXO Me.

Hi loves, I just wanted to say thankyou so very much for being exceptionally patient with Iconic as it has been having its little up's and down's in terms of tech difficulties but for now, it is coming along pretty perfect. I would also like to address some people/companies because it takes a lot longer to reply via emails because there is so much trouble shooting I need to address before everything is all utopic! So here we go...

- San Diego Fashion Week: Thankyou for the invitation, it was very lovely. I won't be in New York this season however I probably will be some time at the end of this year or early next year (most likely February for NY Fashion Week) so I might come and visit then. Thanks a whole heap.

- Qui Fall 2008: And Again! Thank you so very much for the lovely email. I love the pieces on offer and I am positive that if it is good enough for Rachel Bilson and Rihanna, it will most definitely be good enough for me!
And there you have a crammed version of all the emails which I have failed to address in the last month. Fell free to check out the companies by typing them into google and to the actual PR's, designers, buyers, event organisers, and Iconic Fans, An ENORMOUS thankyou! I will personally reply to the emails very shortly!
Love Lisa xx
I have so many requests from readers who want me to do little "Budget friendly" pieces and as much as I honestly love to, I have to tell you all that it takes a lot longer than you think when it comes to the writing and researching process. However, because I feel totally guilty about not updating consistently for some while, I have picked out my favourite pieces off net-a-porter which are all under $200! One wardrobe item which I am totally lacking in would have to be skirts. I have the typical denim mini skirts, vintage fabric skirts and a fifties A-line number somewhere but otherwise, I'm not a huge wearer of skirts as I rather a pair of shorts or a dress. I have a good friend of mine who is just such a sucker for skirts after recently spending well over my typical 'skirt-budget' to buy a mini pencil skirt number. Right now, I have to admit that I really do want a gorgeous floral Chloe skirt because it is just so romantically bohemian with incredible assymmetrical ruffles down the side. Perfect for this crazy weather (raining once again) with a pair of whimsical gumboots and a fitted tuxedo jacket. I feel like it's London or a country in Europe or something (not because it isn't fabulous in which I find everywhere to be amazing) but because Sydney is never really known for rainy weather but instead the relaxed beach-side atmosphere. Oh well, I just want a Chloe skirt really bad right now.

I went shopping just yesterday in search of the perfect Formal/cocktail dress without much luck. I have to say it has been pretty tedious to have an enormous amount of money in my Louis Vuitton wallet which I have spent months and months saving for the perfect dress when I still am yet to start filling up my spring wardrobe! It really is quite off-putting actually because as I cascade into the fashion boutiques and chainstores, all I want to do is just give myself an enormous shopping spree and just use all the money I have saved to update my wardrobe for the upcoming season but I can't do that just in case I don't have enough for my dress! Pretty ridiculous isn't it? Ridiculous but realistic. Oh well, I went shopping yesterday and I tried on a few dresses here and there but I didn't end up finding anything perfect but I did find a pair of shoes which I just had to have. Chunky but super amazing for the Spring/Summer season. The enormous wooden wedges I bought were from Sportsgirl and reduced from $150 to just $50! As if I didn't have enough spare change for a pair of transeasonal wedges! You know what they say...fifty and fabulous.
Ps: If you want to see what they look like, the shoes are on the Sportsgirl website and are the "Catherine High Wedge" and are all SOLD OUT!

On Friday, we have this strange "Superhero" day where we all have to come up dressed as superheroes. I have to admit that I am a total stranger to this theme as usually, I am one to dress up as something totally fabulously cliche such as a Princess or a teacher or something. Never really as extreme as a superhero. When I were told of this theme, I immediately thought of Christina Ricci at the Met Gala looking fabulous in Givenchy. Old news but I thought the look captured the essence of a classic femme fatale with a super hero aspect very, very nicely. So what am I wearing you ask? No idea honey. No idea at all.

I was checking out Saks a moment ago for some new shoe styles just for total personal reasons and I don't know why but it appears that the shoe designs seemed to remind me very much of the types of heels available in the 1990's period. I was a signature 90's kid so I totally clearly remember the "trends" which existed during the reign of the Spice girls and Aqua etc. and how can I honestly forget those totally 90's shoes like the square front and chunky square heel? Weirdly enough, I was just trying on my Mum's old lost and found shoes of the 90's collection just a few days ago setting my feet into a pair of vintage chunky Mary Jane Moschino heels complete with straps which weren't too bad only I wasn't too sure if I would actually wear it out and not just in front of my mirror. Oh well, if worse comes to worse and I have no heels to wear (hope this never happens), I can always flip on a pair of vintage 90's heels. I mean, if it is good enough for Louboutin, it should be good enough for me...or not.

Question: Hi Lisa, this isn't really a fashion question but it has to do with jewellery so I hope you can help me out here. =) Just last month I had gotten engaged and by the end of the month, the engagement was called off. It seemed so sudden and I hate the whole "awkward questions" which come my way so I've decided to do something I've never done before and I'm not a HUGE fashionista or anything but I love the idea of a right hand ring. Thing is, I'm not in a totally great financial state at the moment and I would really love something which will look over the top and fabulous as well as quite impressive so no one really asks the questions concerning my ex but instead about the ring! Sounds really strange but right now, I just need a gorgeous substitute. Any help?
Answer: Oh gosh honey...thankfully, I am like the Queen of owning (and losing) right hand rings as not being in a current relationship myself but I totally understand where you are coming from with the whole "Look at my ring hand ring not the other hand! Just get mixed up already! This ring is far more fabulous" and I'll do my best to find what tricks are up my sleeve to help you out here. Usually, I personally go for over the top amazing bold statement cocktail rings which usually consist of some huge heavy stone in a gorgeous colour. And yes, like you; sometimes I'm really not in the mood to spend a whole credit card worth ring to get over a silly break up and that's how I randomly came across this website (not net-a-porter!) which features some glamorous rings at really, really, really affordable prices. Unbelievably so. Colourful rings are always a heap of fun whether you wear it to the office or at a girls' night out so they would be the best choice I reckon. And if worse comes to worse, at least you know that if you ever coincedently meet up with your ex and he's not up to scratch, just keep your hands under the table and smile graciously as the gorgeous ring is fitted perfectly to the fourth finger on your left hand. Trust me. It works everytime.

You know when you read interviews in fashion magazines and they ask the questions "what are your favourite labels?" etc. and the person being interviewed is always like "Prada, Gucci. Versace, Hugo Boss, Chanel...etc."? Like the typical, typical brands which absolutely EVERYONE would most likely know of. For some strange reason, all I have wanted to do today is go on the internet in the search of the best labels which may have been around for a super long time and yet you might not even be too overly familiar with the label itself. Not because it isn't fabulous but maybe because of the two following reasons: a) Too hard to pronounce or b) No one wears it because they cannot pronounce it. So either way, you get the gist. I totally realised though that if I ever get asked that very same cliche-all-fashion-mags-ask-it question, I will be totally prepared as a I belt out "Day Birger et Mikkelsen" and "Rue du Mail" as my two absolute faves. Because aside from Matthew Williamson, Chanel, Marchesa, Louis Vuitton and Prada; I really do like the sound of the other two. So, with that said...interview anyone?

I really cannot wait for this crazy, hectic, over-the-top year to just finally end. It seems like so much has happened from Fashion week to a stress overload to the wardrobe frenzies and fabulous looks to the constant emails...ETC. Not that I don't love it because you know that I totally do but sometimes it can be a tad bit overwhelming. To answer your lovely questions though, no; unfortunately I won't be in NY this season for NY Fashion Week but will be next February in time for my birthday (yay!) and no, again; I have not disappeared but really, I'll always be here fashionably holding your hand as we tackle the crazy world of reality and fashion together even though I might have more than enough crap going on in life, it really is the readers and the website which keeps me going and going and going. Speaking of which, isn't it just a tad too boring right now with the subtle "coming in" of Spring trends for the Aussies who are reading this, and isn't just a tad too "dull" for the gorgeous Iconic readers from the US? And for everyone else who I dearly love as well, isn't it just about time to get rid of the neutral colours, chuck out the comfortable shoes and get rid of the Blair Waldorf bows and headbands and instead, welcome the new fashion season with a bit of sparkle?

I didn't do much this weekend. Actually, I did. I went to the Le Black Book studio sale on the weekend and I seriously do not remember the last time I was in a room full of all these wonderful clothes which I seriously wanted and because they were so reduced by quite a lovely bit(think Valerie Tolosa dresses originally $396 reduced to $250) , it was only when I gotten home afterwards with fabulous Le Black Book goody bags that I realised how much I wanted from the Le Black Book Studio which I stupidly did not buy. I saw the whole entire array of silk, chiffon, cotton dresses just waiting...and waiting to be bought and worn and I think it might have been due to the freezing weather that had disturbed my utopic fashion thoughts and so I was like to myself "Nah, maybe next time" which would have to be the dumbest fashion idea ever as I woke up this morning and seriously had to text the director of Le Black Book and tell her how much I was in a desperate Spring fashion need of heavily reduced Valerie Tolosa and Sretsis. Regret, big time! By the way, I am not paid to do advertising for Le Black Book eboutique as many people like to ask/assume. I am just great friends with the lovely girl who owns the company and I do genuinely believe in Le Black Book as the next big thing so I like to capture that everytime I have an urge to write about it because really, until you have actually had a "Le Black Book experience", you really don't know what you are missing out on.
Plus, I totally encourage you to use the discount code "Vogue". A discount code is very, very tempting. PS: The Kirrily Johnston Treasure dress worn by Mischa Barton at fashion week is totally on the Le Black Book website (in black and blush) and massively reduced to just $550 from $836! Get in quick people!
Is there ever a month in the year which you know you will be spending a crazy amount of money not on yourself, but on others because it ends up being a total season of "Birthday Bonanza"? Well, for me personally, it is the lovely month of September where we celebrate birthdays of my gorgeous friends and family and not to forget, Father's day this weekend and the fact that it is not officially out of Winter and into the gorgeous Spring season. So, I know you are probably wondering what I am going to get everyone...well, I will tell you anyways, wondering or not because that's just me. Anyhow, from order of dates: It is Father's day on this Sunday 8th of September, my friend Neha's birthday on the 11th of September, Kath Purkis from Le Black Book's birthday on the 18th of September, my younger sister's (Bianca's) birthday on the 22nd of September, and my grandmother's birthday on the 25th of September. Pretty darn full this month isn't it? Well, because I am dying to tell you and I know that you are or may be secretly dying to know the gift ideas, here is my short list of online goodies for them all. Don't worry, I doubt they will really check out my blog in the search of something like this.
- Fathers Day: I like the idea of sending hampers and gift baskets but more than that, I really do love the Father day goodies at Sweet Stems which provides delivery as well which adds to the convienience and is super professional all the time which my dad will like a lot. http://www.sweetstems.com.au/
- Neha Goswami: I always think perfume is a safe option for friends because there is just something so wonderful about those fabulous gift box versions of your/their favourite scent wrapped up in pretty designer paper which is enough to tempt the most pickiest people. http://www.smartpoppy.com.au/
- Kath Purkis: What do you get the person who owns the number one designer online store in Australia? Good question. Thank goodness that my mum has a friend who works at Chanel so a gorgeous little trinket from there will be more than perfect. http://www.chanel.com/
- Bianca: My sister is going through a total designer make up and charm bracelet phase even though she is only turning the big one-zero (10). She has a lust of M.A.C cosmetics so it'll have to be M.A.C makeup and either something gorgeously girly and glamorous from either Betsey Johnson or Juicy Couture. She IS only ten afterall. http://www.betseyjohnson.com/
- Grandma: I want to get her something sweet from Tiffany's because it is classic and timeless just like her. I'm looking at the dramatic coloured stone cocktail rings or some classic diamonds (with my gorgeous Mum's help!). http://www.tiffany.com/
And finally, I think that my mother and I totally deserve to spoil ourselves after that big spending bust. I might just put the Miu Miu Paillette embellished pumps I saw the other day on Lay-by whilst I know my mum will go for the glamorous Bally Zerene ostrich pumps on lay-by as well. Gosh we are brilliant. http://www.net-a-porter.com/

I wouldn't exactly call it "high end fashion" this season but only because the weather at the moment is neither sunny or wet, windy or dry and overall very, very annoying, I am loving cardigans. I mean, really; the best thing I can put on in the morning is a Temperley London dress with a skinny belt plastered to my waist, a pair of French Sole sparkly ballet flats with a pair of thin nude "Grandma" hosiery finished with (TA' DA!) a comfortable cashmere cardigan by Ralph Lauren or something of the sort. If you live in Sydney at the moment, you might be able to understand where I'm coming from...that is, concerning the weather. It's the type of weather where you wake up in the morning and look out of the window and see the sun glroiously shining so you run outside in your pyjamas to (hopefully) bask in the warm luxurious weather which you see before being harshly pushed indoors by a huge gale or gust of wind and a few million goosebumps here and there. Not so pleasant. The worst bit? At about 12.30pm and onwards in the afternoon, the sun is shining and smiling down as the wind has died down and all you can do is put on your designer sunglasses as you stroll into a cafe and order a large Iced chocolate with extra cream. I know it's not fashionable but what's done is done.

I will be going to the Sydney International Spa and Beauty expo very soon and the pondering question of what to wear still gets to me. However as this is not a fashion related event whatsoever with some fashion faces being perhaps those of ‘Napoleon Perdis’ and the randomly expected M.A.C cosmetics counter here and there, I really don’t know what the supposed ‘beauty girls’ wear to events like this. I mean, to frock or not to frock? I don’t work in beauty and don’t aspire to work in beauty so what to wear when one works in beauty is a question which I am hoping to find the answer to. I read in a blog that “beauty girls are like Lauren Conrad from the Hills who are polished but it’s because they just wear a chic dress or something similar. They are the beauty girls after all.” So from that one sentence and a bit, I instantly get the image of a magazine beauty editor who adorns herself in the likes of Mimco hair accessories and strapless One Teaspoon and Tigerlily dresses accompanied with an awesome (fake) tan and a seemingly natural glow and some pastel lip gloss…not that great an impression but then I could be completely wrong as well. I’m personally going for a draped Grecian-inspired dress and a pair of awesome over the top statement heels and some bangles to accesorise with not to forget the fake tan and super gorgeous red lipstick. Are there any beauty divas out there? What do you think?

I have a confession to make! I am super excited on this one as well! Okay, it is official that next January-February 09, I will be going to this amazing Island the beautiful Vietnam (which is predicted to be the next Bali) and it is incredible because this little island resort is literally on an private island and you have to get there either by jet or like speed jet. Like oh my gosh. I am so excited. I am expecting a lot of sand, sea, markets, sunglasses, big hats, caftans...the lot! I forget what the resort is called but apparently it is the epitome of European luxury in an exotic location. But before I go all nuts on you with the listing of all the different things I plan on bringing, which I will go nuts sooner or later with; I also have more news and it is that in a few months (think sometime in September so not too far off), I will be going for an amazing but short road trip with my bestfriend and some other friends of ours to Coogee beach where we will do nothing but drink martinis, eat out, sleep, party and sunbake for three glorious days and two amazing nights in a waterfront apartment. You can feel free to join us if you manage to be there at the same time. Ahhh...I so wish I was on holiday right now. Just think; pedicured toes, natural tans, sexy bikinis, silk caftans, white mini dresses, oversized floppy hats, havaianas, beach bags, maxi dresses, wedge heels, beach parties, sand castles, crystal blue water...I could go on forever, but hey; there still is such thing as reality.

I'm having these really strange phases which I go through these days, and they usually encompass something along the lines of clothing and looking like a princess (not that there is anything particularly wrong with that). I mean, it is pretty darn awesome to be able to wear a pair of opaque stockings and a totally princess-like mini dress on top which would feature something dramatically fantastical like Chiffon or tulle layers or even a deep Snow-White-Ruby-Red tone. Like okay, fine. It hasn't really been off the hook at this seasons runways and whatnot, but its definitely a look which is incredibly subtle yet totally doable. You see, one day you can just wake up and think "I want to look like Rapunzel" (I really do wonder how many people think like myself) and so you'll get out of bed, put on a gorgeous little Temperley London babydoll mini dress (not the most flattering but bear with me) and pair it with a pair of opaque tights and a pair of dramatic heels, not forgetting a perfect sideways plait or even a more contemporary yet subtle milkmaid braid and Ta da! There you have a modern Rapunzel. Snow White is a fun look to do as well. Just go over the top with gorgeous ruby red tones and deep colours and finish the look with a pretty satin bow on your head and there you have Snow White! ETC. Oh well, if anything makes me more eager than ever; just picture me in my modern fairytale outfit, staring over my city apartment balcony and saying the words "One day my Prince will come"...pretty neat huh?

You might have all already seen our first ever Iconic Fashion Youtube video in which I sincerely thank you all so very much! It's funny because although the video seems to be exactly just 1 minute and 30 seconds, it took us a bloody entire day to compose it (in a total rush I might add) and as a result, I have heard lots of positive feedback in which I totally hope you enjoyed the short snippet which we put together. I am already starting out some inspiration for our next future videos and would love it if some of you lovely readers could give us a shout out for some ideas. I'm personally looking at doing a video called "A close look at Couture" however, that is just an inspiration I am basing the video on at the moment and am yet to do the research and writing for it yet so if you do have ANY suggestions at all. Please email me about it. I'm very friendly and I won't bite and I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on this matter. I was also thinking of perhaps answering 'fashion questions' via video (??). So do let me know what you all want to see. I would love some more fabulous ideas which I can work from in order to give you all the best Iconic Fashion Youtube videos ever. =)

Because my best friend and I are such freaks, I have this crazy confession to make. I'm even super embarassed to tell you this but already by the title of this post you might be able to sort of see the 'direction' where this is going. Okay fine, whatever. My bestie and I just LOVE to look for wedding dresses. It's really crazy but it is seriously a lot of fun. I know, you're probably thinking "That's what you get when you mix up two silly girls, lindt chocolates, a bag full of make up, a pair of Louboutins and Internet Explorer" because I admit, that's true. If I were you, I would think exactly the same. Some of you might be out there and think...'that's not too bad' in which I applaud you. However neither of us are getting married or in relationships (gosh we sound so lame right now) but either way, it's the fashion that gets us going. I'm hoping that some readers right now are brides-to-be or secretly do this 'wedding business' stuff because I have a few designer dress designs which I think are just so gorgeous. Sight* If only I was getting married next month and not 'sometime in the future', it would all be so much more worthwhile.

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about favourite purchases and 'regretful' purchases. You see, a favourite purchase is something which you buy and think "Oh my gosh! I'm in love!" [with it, of course] whereas a 'regretful' purchase is one where you had every opportunity to buy the item but you don't [for some out-of-this-world-reason] and by the time, you can get your hands on it next, it is either one of two things. One; Out of fashion and 'totally last season' or Two: Same as one, only other than just last season, it is also on sale [just to further reitterate the fact it is a tad last season]. My friend had a recent 'regret' purchase which was a pair of cork heels. I know what your thinking (how 2004) but I figured that I have never seen her wear a pair after she bought it and isn't it kind of funny how with fashion its always 'what goes around comes around' style so when I visited her at her apartment, I noticed her shoe wardrobe (she's a sucker from Jimmy Choo Strappy heels and peep toes, if you were wondering) just peeking out of the corner I catch the eye of the cork heel which she had always wanted and finally got. I suppose the moral of this story is that you might be able to hold off a lust-have purchase for quite some time, but when opportunity arises (no matter how unfashionable), you generally will go out and buy it. Now with that said, I'm lusting after that Pink Luella Bartley Giselle Bag I've always wanted...since 2002?

Remember how I told you I managed to find like a whole stack of vintage fashion magazines at the fete which I went to on the weekend? Well, I have been having a wonderful trip down memory lane and as there are a few of these magazines which are published around 2004-5 ish, I have noticed the popping up of designer "Sarina Suriano" who I can clearly recall at Fashion Week during the lovely early Millenium years. It is only two seconds ago when I started thinking "What has happened to her wonderfully gorgeous jewellery pieces?". I was a bit of a Sarina Suriano fanatic back in the days when she had her runway shows. So yes, I just thought I wanted to share that with you even though you might now even give a damn. But anyways, scroll down and Enjoy some Sarina Suriano runway pics.

I recently came across a photograph of the wonderfully ecclectic Agyness Deyn and I realised that she is often seen wearing a pair of flat brogues in a stunning shade of outrageous metallic silver which look so superb on her however, in reality lace up shoes might not look so perfect for us normal girls out there. Not just because we have our own fabulous bodies which perhaps may not be so slender and legs which go onto forever however I remember dressing for Fashion Week and I was having a debate between a pair of flat vintage brogues, a pair of brogues and a pair of tight Louboutin ankle boots. Yes, I sscrapped the laces and traded in for a pair of ankle boots because I felt more...'secure' in knowing what I looked liked as opposed to minimising my legs to a flat surface. I'm 5'3 so I'm not too tall and flat brogues made me look a tad shorter than I normally do when I'm wearing a pair of flats or when I'm barefoot. There is something quite elfish and slender about these shoes which make legs appear chunkier and less petite. I am loving however, the amazing brogue heel shoes which are actually made as a high heel as opposed to a brogue with a heel. It is much more feminine and dresses up a cocktail dress or a tuxedo suit almost instantly. And yes, it does give us the extra height without making our legs look TOO chunky.

Okay, I know that I haven't updated in quite a while but that is just because I have been out and about at the best parties trying to get the goss for you and just some random news on trend pieces and all the fun and frolic of fashion itself. Just on the topic of fashion parties, I am unfortunately unable to go to the lovely Le Black Book party at the Ivy this Wednesday night because I am preoccupied with other events a few days afterwards and this is just very unfortunate because I was totally looking forward to it!! I am sure it will be a huge success and the fabulous Kath has told me that goody bags are worth over $1000! Love Goody bags a lot. (But that will be another story, another time). Anyways, fashion parties are always fun but another thing which I love is eating. I totally believe that eating is a total luxury and seeing as I cannot really cook anything fancy and proper to save my life, I usually rely on preparing fresh salads and pastas because they are easy and delish! As a result, I am going to share with you a basic recipe which I came across at during a photographer friend's luncheon which was just oh-so-delicious and oh-so-healthy and looked beautifully exotic as well! It does contain nuts and it really is just a tossed up salad with cashew nuts, pine nuts, strawberries and balsalmic vinegar to create something gorgeously colourful and delicious! It isn't on my to-buy list but it most definitely is on my to-eat list! Wait, I mean...to-make list. Gosh.

Question: I'm having a Spring wedding in a few months and it is very summer-themed and I've found the perfect dresses (which are romantic and very classic) however the maid of honour is 6 months pregnant and I don't want to go too over the top however I still want that exotic essence to be around! I don't know what she should wear now! She's the maid of honour so it needs to be something classic but flattering. Please Help! (by Jacquie via. email)
Answer: I know what you are talking about. Pregnant Maids or Matrons of honour aren't the best things you want in a nice photo, yes of course you love them (as we all do) but it is your special day and the last thing you want is for people to be talking behind their hands about the gorgeous Maid of honour who is, yes, 6 months pregnant and showing. I personally would choose something babydoll style in gorgeous chiffon fabrics with a contrasting thin belted embellishment or even perhaps something which drapes really wonderfully around the whole body capturing the essence of a glowing mother-to-be. Something quite Grecian. I would stay away from prints and florals of all colours and sizes and instead make use of classic champagne and cream tones. Pastels would work nicely as well but a bold coloured dress would be just as effective. You also don't really want to go for styles which are specially suited to pregnant women. You want a style which would work effectively pregnant or not. High waisted and v-neck or round necks would look fabulous however I suppose this is when hair and makeup become more vital to achieving a certain 'look' according to your own personal theme. Anyway, I hope this helps and Congratulations on getting married.

You know how I usually have my little rants over things which I really can't choose between. Like the typical- sock sandals vs. normal sandals or patent leather boots vs. normal boots etc. There always seems to be a trend piece which contrasts immensely to the styles that I generally like better. Right now, what is on my mind is the tie-dye trend. The process of how one colour can cascade into another isn't really that fabulous to me. This could be due to two reasons: One; I am familiar with the process of dip dying and tie dying as I was a textiles student and sure it is a whole lot of fun to get your hands stained a nasty shade of beetroot purple and bright orange but after a while, you figure it isn't that hard to do yourself (If you want a basic 5 step tutorial, just email me. I've done this to singlets before. It's fun but looks a tad tacky), Two: The last time I bought something which was dip dye, it costed my $500 and I only wore it once before I figured that it wasn't classy and trend pieces starting at $20 were coming in. (You can guess how cut I was at this.) I know, such shallow responses. Oh well, I suppose that if it is good enough for McQueen and Stella McCartney, it might be good enough for me...to look at...not wear! And even looking at it, seems to take such effort.

How Dramatically classy!

You might have figured that yesterday, not only was I quite busy with a whole bunch of nothing but I also was facing my very own mental blanks where I literally did not have a clue on what to write on. They call it writers-block and I call it; lack-of-shopping-leads-to-lack-of-ideas...or in just one word: LACK. But anyhow, I got a wonderful surprise this morning when I received an email from the fabulous Kamie who put in "Suggestion for the Iconic Fashion Blog" on the subject title. To be honest with you, I was secretly freaking and thinking "Oh my gosh! She's going to tell me to be more precise in how often I update isn't she??" because I totally admit that I have been a little lazy and slow when it comes to fashion ideas these days however instead, I received a great email about this international label which really doesn't get noticed as an 'international' label only it does actually operate in over 50 countries. It is Frey Wille (and I will give you the link to the USA website very soon as it also can send to Australia with International Mail order) and it is just impeccable. Wearable pieces of Art. Like literally. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that the designers take elements of renowned artworks and incorporate them into amazing scarves, bangles, earrings etc. No, I'm not advertising (goodness gracious!) as I have personally checked out the website and I think you will all love it a lot. The pieces appear to be very 'now' with a Modern Pucci slash Impeccable Monet slash Iconically quirky Warhol. Now, doesn't that just sound so incredibly individual?
PS: I'm loving the bright colours so much!! Here is a [large] snippet on my to-buy list right now...
PPS: Many thanks to Kamie for sending this in! =)

Do you remember that gorgeous whimsical bohemian inspired label designed by Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk? Well, news just in; this fashion label might cease to continue this time next year or whenever quite soon. So my advice? Grab any last pieces by Jovovich-Hawk when you can. It's always sad to say goodbye.

My email would have to be a complete shocker to check every day. I get emails from all sorts of places from fashion designers emailing me about launch parties to facebook friends adding me (both of which I don't mind so much) but then I generally get the strange person who's name is seriously made up sending from Somalia in South Africa etc. However, this morning at exactly 10.49am, I received a lovely email from topsecret.com- it is the one website which has access to all the amazing designer sample sales with 75% off all pieces and if you are lucky enough to already be a part of it (which is wonderful), that's really great because unfortunately it is the only website which is actually invitation-only. Pretty exclusive isn't it? Well, I am yet to work my magic in the online stores and the designer goody discounts but I most certainly will keep you updated with everything I buy and every transaction I make.

I am a huge fan of celebrity magazines and I am an even bigger fan of fashion magazines. Already, you perhaps would've figured that I have noticed this fine line between celebrity and fashion and I was just thinking before; isn't it a little ironic how celebrities may perhaps 'start' a trend but then as time slowly goes by, it is the very same celebrities who kill the look as well? I mean, you really don't have to agree with me on this one, but something which really annoys the crap out of me is when celebrities are spamming the red carpet with an alright-looking-but-love-it-because-it's-designer dress and then a pair of Christian Louboutin heels. Like no offence or anything, I liked those shoes way before people like Lauren Conrad and Heidi (I can't even remember her surname!) from the Hills just strutting at events thinking 'I'm all that because I wear Louboutins!' like I don't think so. You know what also killed another fashion look (and no, I'm not talking about the iconic colourful maxi dresses trend which is almost about to die out as well) but I saw a pic of Heidi (whatever the hell her surname is) from the Hills with a Hermes Birkin bag! Like I would just love to be able to accuse and say it was fake but I honestly have no idea. So okay, maybe I am ranting about nothing. But do you see where I'm getting at right now? Okay, enough talk. I need some chocolate.

So the 411 is that there is a Graduation dinner coming up in about 5 weeks. Sounds like a long time but really it isn't especially because exams are just around the corner and parties are flourishing way too fast but that's just how I like it. Anyhow, what to wear to grad dinner? I received the invite in the post about 2 days ago and rumour has it that there will be little 'before' and 'after' photos being put up on display on some ginormous (and totally unneccesary) Lcd screen (I think that's what it is called) and so obviously everyone wants to make an impression and look fabulous whilst doing so. However, the dress code is [quote] 'Semi-formal/lounge suit'. Um...righto. I got the semi-formal bit but lounge suit? I don't know if they meant parents or the fathers but whatever. So right now, my little dilemma is finding the perfect little outfit to pull off at this once-in-a-lifetime-event. (Ha ha) I know that everyone will kill the night with a dress. Like think a mini dress combined with some delicious smelling fake tan (ew- the smell, not the tan), some ruffled bed hair and a dose of eyeliner and ta da! There you have class of 08. Lovely. I think I'll rock the look with some Balenciaga skinny leg pants (absolute classic faves of mine) with perhaps a cute top from Le Black Book as it is gorgeous and unique and all I need is a sweet trend piece just to break up the dress-tradition. I won't forget my fake tan and bronzer though. What can I say? I'm still one of them.

Here are some exclusive pics of 14 year old Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen which were featured on the IMG modelling website. Rumour has it that Momsen wants to do high end modelling for the likes of Chanel and Miu Miu as opposed to the typical tween Neutrogena, Dooney and Burke style ad campaigns. What do you think? Hot or not?

Pink is both my generally favourite colour and also my least favourite colour to wear. Not because it is absurdly ugly and disgusting which it isn't at all but I never really get a good feeling when it comes to wearing pink. I feel weirdly young, immature, mean-girls-slash-clueless style...you get the drift? I think that fuschia is just that pink colour which will look fabulous when it comes to going out to parties at night and will look super hot for like the first two hours, by the time the clock strikes midnight, you woul have to be kind of happy to get rid of the brightness and out-there quality of the outfit colour. But I have to say that I am slowly, just slowly adoring pink accesories like shoes, bags and pink Chanel Bangles etc. I'm slowing loving the pink-here-pink-there idea which I've got going on with bows and headbands. Ha. Subtle I know. With fashion (and my fashion tastes) being so unpredictable, who knows? By the end of the week, don't be too surprised if you see me wearing a fuschia pink Roberto Cavalli dress which just screams out "Fuschia!".

There is so much I am doing and saying and trying to do as we speak. Well firstly, I am checking out the Iconic Bryan Boy blog website which is just incredible (with a little fabulous snippet of some lush Le Black Book) whilst I just got off the line with a friend of mine who is stressing about work, work and Work and whilst I am doing all of this, I am so excited about the end-of-year trip which I am planning as well as looking forward to the exciting and fabulous Le Black Book Garden Soiree at The Ivy, checking my email to see if Chronicles of Never designer Gareth Moody emailed me (not yet, in case you were wondering!), just got an email from This is a plain tee (type it into google if your curious) and did I totally deliberately forget to tell you that I am saving up for a Hermes Birkin bag by the end of this hectic year?? Well Okay, my faithful fashion readers would have picked up on my compulsive obsession since forever but it is only today where I really have an urge just to walk into Hermes and place an order and just kill my credit card in the process...which isn't really my ideal plan at all. Well since I am in such a wishy-washy-not-here-not-there mood, I was wondering if you would LOVE to help me pick out a pretty Hermes bag? Oh, how did I guess. You love it as well.

I don't really know if I am a huge fan of two toned clothing or not. I mean, I totally understand the whole Chanel two toned ballet flats and pumps which I absolutely adore but then when it comes to dresses with deliberate different-colour-panel-things, I am a bit unsure because I just don't get why we'd wear these two colours on a dress when we could easily pull it off with a separate shirt and skirt. Know what I mean? What do you reckon? Oh well, according to my observations, if you do love the two-tone dress look; the good news is that it all seems to be on sale as we speak.

I am loving these little ideas of 'after work drinks' or a 'night out with the girls' which is just a lot of fun and maybe it is weird of me to take note of these things but it is only when I attend these things where I finally feel a little more self actualised. I remember when I was younger and I would watch my share of television shows and hear the perfect 22 year old say something fun like "You up for drinks after work?" and I'd be all "Oh my gosh! When can I do that?!" It's pretty darn awesome especially because my friends are all so different in which we get along mighty fine and fashionably fabulously (I love being the stylist!) and it is super fun to catch up and check out what they are wearing after work. You see, we have Hayley who is the more travel-flight attendant-hotel-hospitality-going-to-Paris-soon side of us all and she always looks fabulous in classic pieces mixed and matched up with gorgeous hand made jewellery and the perfect pair of outrageous but sensible pumps. After Hayles, we have Neha who is the embodiment of the female business-power-lawyer-woman who goes lovely with her signature office-style-power-dressing-I'm-a-lawyer which I just think is so much fun because she actually has the fabulousness of a Miranda style character only much younger and more fabulous. Lauren is the next girl on the block with her ideal looks being something pretty, sensible (I mean she is the primary-school-teacher-that-we-always-wanted) and something fashionable and printed in beautiful bright tones and colours. And then we have Sinclaire who is the most down-to-earth-loves-travelling-architecture-interior-design-journalist-designer ever. She does her look casual and unique in her sense of prettiness in clothing choice. She isn't daggy and loves a good platform with glittery gold edges and the perfect chiffon dress. She looks a bit like Tinkerbell. Finally we have me. I don't know exactly what went in my head when I wrote this on my 2threads account: A mixture of sophisticated and classic with traces of a lost bohemian but I have to say it sums me up perfectly.
Ps: See if you can guess who would wear what!

I am officially going on a crazy trip at the end of this year to the following incredible places: Australia to Hong Kong to L.A to New York to Texas to Mexico to Canada to China and back to Australia. What a crazy trip that'll be?! I am so excited though. I think it will be awesome. Do any of you have any suggestions for accomdation and things to do and see and try? I'm looking at the Chelsea Hotel in New York which according to the New York times is: "on 23rd Street with the air of a great dame who finds herself in the midst of a party of her social inferiors but instead of complaining decides to join right in the fun." Sounds like a blast don't you think?

I am loving the crazy Gladiator shoe trend at the moment. Don't get me wrong, it isn't the sock-sandal thing which I had my rant over before but instead, it is the fabulous gladiator sandals which are seen on everyone and are so super comfortable! Too bad the weather is pretty bad these days but I am glad I got a pair in quickly before the cheap stores start spamming everyone with the typically copyright styles which drive all fashionistas crazy. In all honesty, I grabbed mine from Sportsgirl and they were a mere $89.95! I am very pleased with myself because I know that I won't feel bad about it when I see little teeny boppers in the city walking around wearing fake horrid versions. You can see that I obviously don't sympathise with people who wear things for the sake of it and not beause they don't love it. If you cannot stand the sight of these chunky flats, may I recommend a platform heel version? That's next on my to-buy list for the summer season. I'd do these ugly lovelies with a sweet Summery floral frock and some hardcore gold bangles and a pastel headband for that perfect look.

I’m loving the Prada lace handbags and am officially (kind of) over the Prada Fairy bags because its not like us, mere mortals can get our hands on the limited edition element of the Fairy bag but this lace on the other hand…there shouldn’t be a reason why we can’t get our manicured fingers on them. I have to say that I am really, really loving the Prada bags at the moment. Okay, I admit; Fairy bag or not, Prada’s handbags have definitely been just oh-so-fabulous for quite a while now and they really are the current ‘it’ items. The antique lace element adds such a great touch to the modern element of the handbag. There seems to be a more classic, seductive yet antique feel to this product which I really like…Move over fairies. It’s time we got feminine and fabulous. Miuccia you’ve done it again!

Have you lovelies out there bought the new Grazia

So, okay I totally understand that these days, it is raining cats and dogs and quite intensely, if I may add however I'm noticing a lot of Patent leather heeled boots and I’m not too sure if I personally like the trend myself. It’s a bit too much like a pair of rain boots, made slimmer, higher and with heels. I can’t see myself wear them and prance around happily and think ‘I look fabulous’. I personally find the look a little frumpy and rather cheap. I spotted a pair in the city just recently on sale from $480 reduced to about $120 and it seriously lookewd like cheap plastic moulded into the shape of a boot. Not really a good sign I think. The best way for me to sum it is would be perhaps...‘a fashionable Mutton dressed as wannabe-lamb'. What do you think?

Just over the weekend, I went out and bought something which I truly needed because mine broke even though I could’ve spent my money on something else. I bought an Alannah Hill headband. It’s probably the most amazing headband I have ever seen with bows, ruffles, lace, beading…very Alannah Hill. I would never usually spend so much on something which just goes on my head every now and then. Its more like now or never actually. A headband isn’t an everyday piece but rather it is just those things which you have for the sake of it. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just this morning I had a look into my inbox and the girls at net-a-porter had emailed me a list of the new stock and guess what I spotted? Headbands. However, unlike mine, they were diamante encrusted, delicate and super expensive. I have to say that I definitely have seen the same thing at Diva for about 10 bucks. Talk about a splurge.

These days, I have been secretly obsessed with watching The Amazing Race on Channel 7 even though it might be a totally old episode but whatever. I love the whole tension and the whole concept of packing outfits for a fast trip around the world. When I was younger, my best friend and I had always said we would somehow get onto the show and this is where my bad habit of day-dreaming what I would pack became somewhat more interesting. I am curious to know if any of you readers have ever thought that? Or maybe I am just a tad strange but nevertheless, the concept of dashing around the world and winning a million dollars does really prompt my mind to think, what to wear?

Givenchy has just released an exclusive make up collection inspired by 19th century pieces with an edgier twist. Have you ever noticed how best friends or perfect couples can just complement each other so nicely regardless of how many Louis Vuitton wallets there are (or lack of)? My bestie and I have had our ups and downs but in the end of the day, we are still "Lisa and Jackie". Hmm, it is a really nice thought isn't it? Sometimes a best friend is worth so much more than a limited edition designer handbag no matter what you think. Friends also make the most perfect accesories but you didn't hear that from me.

I really need a pair of new sunglasses. I currently use the oversized Donna Karan sunnies which practically fall off my face because they are so big. Usually when it comes to sunglasses, I notice that I always have more than one pair going at me, one at a time. You see, what I didn't say was the fact that I currently wear my Donna Karan sunnies during the days when I wear a loose blouse tucked into a pair of classic jeans and a pair of Louboutins, however when I have my mini-dress-and-gladiator-sandals days', I like to keep it clean with a pair of vintage 60's cat-eye glasses which could give Betsey Johnson a run for the money and finally, if all these persist: see black Raybans. You like? Ha. I think it is time for a new pattern. I want something big, fabulous and different. I want these glasses to draw attention to my face and not to the glasses. No, actually both. At once. If possible. Actually, I'm loving some Linda Farrow right now.

Guess what my dad came up to me and said today? "Lisa! Do you want to go and do a fashion designing course so I can help you start out with a fashion company?" and there I am thinking "What happened to that idea when I actually wanted to be a fashion designer? Now that this has gone down the drain, I don't really want to go back" and so I told him "I want to be a writer" but actually I figured, how awesome would it be to own your own boutique? If you didn't know, I did not conjure that idea just out of mid-air and have always been interested in opening a range of boutiques to rival that of Henri Bendel's NY and Belinda Seper only they are still very fabulous and I have enough trouble typing to buy for myself let alone, buy for a whole store. I have to say that it is really good fun though...as in, to see what I would personally stocke up in MY shop, if there ever will be a MY shop. Here's a peek at what I'd sell. What do you think?

PS: Notice how I sort of leaned the clothes into the more "Sophisticated" direction? I don't know why that happened.

When it comes to presents and gifts, I love getting stuff online. It's just a lot of fun even if I just browse and don't actually buy it. Just because I could, I went onto neimanmarcus.com and went to the "Gifts" section in the "Indulge yourself" catergory and here are some favourites of what I managed to find in this very, very fabulously luxurious catergory- all of which I think would make really spectacular gifts which will actually (admittedly) break the credit card. Oh well, I suppose it is the thought that counts.

You'd never guess what I pranced around in yesterday. Let alone the weather was about 19 degrees and I was in a very weird dress-up-mood, I decided to don a pair of my little vintage Lee white denim cut off's with a Chloe blouse and a pair of cowboy boots topped off with a thin Burberry trench coat and a small vintage Chanel quilted shoulder bag for some oomph during this cold yet sunny season. When it comes to shorts, I have to admit that fake tan really does make legs look longer, fitter and just more oh-so-fabulous. No pasty whites for me! Also, when it comes to shorts, my usual favourites or the-ones-I-have-in-my-wardrobe are all by Sass and Bide, Ksubi jean cut offs, vintage Lee shorts, True Religion and 7 for all Mankind. Although it was a little cold, looking good and being able to dress casual and summery was enough to bring a smile to my day.

I know that at the end of every hectic year, many people are off celebrating the end of their schooling with a so-called "Prom" primarily known in Australia as a "Formal". I also know that it is that month or two which tends to get very hectic when the girls go nuts to find the perfect dress. I still remember the feeling you get when you walk into a designer boutique with your eye on the best dress the store has to offer, and just watch you or the other girls grab that last Fabulous dress on display and seriously, if eyes could talk, they'd already be dead as the competition is just fierce. Anyways, I remember when backless was cool. Do any of you remember when halters, strapless, spaghetti strap was in? These are all just trend pieces of course. I recall at my school formal, the dress which everyone adorned (it did kill the look for sure by the way) was that beautiful black and white contrast bodice with that big oversized bow on the bust area or even just a bit under- cocktail style of course. But you know what? I have always secretly wanted to wear those fabulous mini dresses which are literally titled "Prom dress" but I never really have because of the one time a year when there actually is a prom. This idea already kills it for me. Just thinking about a whole bunch of young girls wearing the SAME style dress. Especially with the Prom dress because one can be cute, fun and flirty but when you put a whole bunch together, you know that you are asking for some trouble.

It is totally official. I need some new Pyjamas as I am getting bored of my Juicy Couture trackies as pj's and am in the mood for some Peter Alexander. What do you reckon? I personally think that it can give outerwear a run for the money but hey, at least you can look fabulous while you sleep.

A huge thanks to photography intern, Jamie B. for sending in the too-risque-for-CK-but-oh-so-sexy photos of the latest Calvin Klein model Garrett Neff which have not yet been released because they are just too HOT for the billboards and we managed to get two exclusive pics, so please enjoy the sexiness! We're loving it.

Do you ever have those fashion days when you just wake up in the morning and think " I cannot be bothered to getting dressed up today" and as a result, you do either of the two following options: a) Wear something similar to what you wore yesterday only change the shoes, the hair and the colours or b) Wear those clothes in your wardrobe which you know will always work no matter what season it is; they call it "classic" and you call it "works everytime"? I am having that day right now, in fact as I am typing this, I am just clad in my undies and Bonds singlet and I have to say that I really don't care at the moment. But I do know that if I had to change into something more spectacular in case I was about to go out or something, I know exactly what I would wear and it really does come down to those a and b options I gave to you just previously. I think I know my body back to front to know that when I have those crap i-don't-want-to-dress-up-days, my safest option is usually something which cascades and has that floaty effect. Nothing tight or overly fitted as just thinking of trying to squeeze into a pair of tight-ass jeans on a bad morning is enough to really turn me off dressing up completely so I stick to chiffon in white or neutral tones with a loose scarf, some tights and a pair of classic pumps. I never knew it would take this much effort to record what I wear, however on a bad day, it seems like that all everything seems to take is just too much time.

Just to remind you to RSVP and email me or the Le Black Book team so you can join in the fun for Thursday night's Le Black Book shoppping night. Also about the VIP party at "The Ivy", Le Black Book has informed me that they will be choosing a select group of customers to join in the fun and you can be one of them if you make a Le Black Book purchase during the month of July so get shopping! You don't want to miss out! =) xx
You all remember how I was supposed to go to the Snowy Mountains right? I totally planned what I was going to wear (and what I wasn't going to wear) to find out that there was a distinct change in plan. Turned out that instead of the tedious six hours of Uno in the car amongst bad radio receptions, we decided to all do a shorter road trip and we ended up spending two and a half hours in the car as we were on the way to Hunter Valley. In case you don't know or haven't yet been there, Hunter Valley is like the Wine capital of New South Wales where everyone tells you not to go for the overpriced wine anyways right? But moreover, it was the relaxed countryside (also Hunter Valley gardens which was just gorgeous) and the surprised voices when we saw a cow ("OMG a COW!!") as we scrambled for our digital cameras and sunglasses so we took photos in a moderately tres chic way, or what we hoped was tres chic that really made the experience what it was. Although it was only two hours, it felt a lot longer because its not everyday, you drive onto a Highway which never really ends. Afterwards we managed to somehow land back at The Entrance in our fabulous waterfront apartment and (it was fabulous weather so the dresses came out) before heading for breakfast and then going back up to Newcastle. We arrived at "Newcastle City" which wasn't really a city. It is amazing how slow people and society can operate when you are away from Sydney City which is just insane at times. (It is very, very slow if you were wondering) And finally, we walked around, had a look at some shops like David Jones which was the tiniest D.J's I have ever seen. It was about the size about half of your usual Woolworths which is pretty small before we decided to trek in the car back home. That is really about all that happened in the span of about two days. But I'm not here to rant about my trip. Are you all wondering by now, a question along the lines of what I wore?

So here we have Lindsay Lohan's "exclusive" (notice inverted commas) leggings line which is now officially on sale. You remember when I said "I'll keep you updated", and that is exactly what I am doing for all you as I see all these puzzled faces. Here is a snippet of the leggings which are currently available at some online stores. Love it or hate it?

10. A gorgeous patterned scarf/the perfect leather belt: This is more of a neccessity than a wardrobe classic. Without this in your closet, how do you expect the other articles of clothing to function? Alone? I think not. Scarves and belts do to your clothing what a nice hairstyle and some makeup can do to your face so it is a definite must-have in terms of basic accesorising with comfort.

9. A pair of perfect fitting jeans in your favourite cut style: This should just have a mutual understanding already. Whether it be Rock and Republic, Seven for all Mankind, Bettina Liano, Tsubi or whatever; I personally say that if the jeans fit, your bum looks fabulous (as it always does) and you can wear it comfortably, it is an absolute wardrobe must. I find that it is usually random when a pair of jeans fit perfectly, you should buy them when you can as they say that when you are out looking for them, you never can find them so if they fit, it is not just fate, it is a sign to buy, buy, buy.

8. A crisp white shirt: Absolute wardrobe classic as it can take you from night to day and look fabulous casually with a pair of Rock and Republic jeans and Miu Miu flats or slightly more dressed up with a pair of black cigarette leg Balenciaga pants and a pair of Manolo Blahniks accompanied with a Prada handbag. You can wear the shirt underneath a Matthew Williamson vest or under a suit jacket for the perfect tuxedo dressing.

7. A floral dress: Keep it A-line or shift, fabulous and feminine with bold floral prints to give your Spring/Summer looks a classic oomph. Try gorgeous shades of teals and pastels for that unique touch on a feminine classic. Wear it gorgeously with a pair of bowed peep toe Jimmy Choo heels or give the look some edge with some Alexander McQueen studded sandals. Don't overdo the look with an unneccesary but oh-so-tempting camillia in the hair.

6. A pair of fashionable flats/boots: After heels, flats and boots are such a comfort must have. I always like going for quirky yet classic style flat shoes in unusual textures such as sequins or patent leather whereas with my boots, I generally check the front of the shoe and opt for my personal round toe favourite in either a classic shade or a more outrageous colour. Comfort is crucial in these shoes as looking good is one thing but extra kudos for looking good and staying comfortable.

6. A tailored coat: A tailored winter coat is such a classic for the coldest of cold days. I'd do a coat by Burberry for that effortless style and the classic connotations assosciated with trench coats by that brand. Wear it in gorgeous shades of neutral beige, white or black for that chic style with a pair of fitted jeans or black pants or my favourite, with a dress. You can pile on the look with many accesories or keep it simple and sophisticated with none.

5. The perfect black pants and fitted jacket: Looking fabulous when worn separately or together, fitted garments make perfect pieces to dress looks up or down with. The perfect black pants and the perfect fitted jacket can make you look as if you have gone a size or two down due to the sophisticated nature of the clothing and can be played around with in order to create your own individual fashion looks with these basic pieces. Power dressing at it's best.

4. A bohemian/gypsy dress: Lash out you inner bohemian with a gypsy dress feautring detailed patterned fabrics and gorgeous exotic shades which make the look worthy of Spain or Brazil. Focus on gorgeous detail, stitching, colour and fitting for the perfect floaty maxi dress or keep in mini and simple in style with exaggerated accesories to recognise the look of a free spirit. Accompany with a pair of chunky McQueen platform heels or a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti jewelled flat shoes for that ultimate exotic chic.

3. Costume jewellery: Costume jewellery is equivalent to the next big diamond which lands on your finger. Overdo it in a fabulous way through the use of exaggerated and excessive embellishments on the one piece as opposed to fifty million simple pieces placed one on top of the other. Go over the top with pearls, diamonds, crystal, gold and beading for that gorgeous excessive appeal which is just as intimidating if not more, than the perfect diamond ring.

2. The Ultimate designer handbag: Classics or trend pieces, it doesn't matter as long as you love it. Try unique colours such as fuschia, mauves, or teal to contrast wonderfully to a neutral closet or keep the colours simple to add that extra something special to trend based styles. Splurge only if you love it and only if it looks fabulous with your ow unique fashion style in order to make the perfect statement which can define your look from drab to fabulous.

1. A pair of outrageous designer heels: Whether it be the ultimate pair of biting Christian Louboutins in the shade of classic black with some powerful killer heels or whether it be naturally dramatic Alexander McQueen, the choices are limitless. They say that you can find a lot about a woman by the bag she carries, but I personally believe that nothing defines a woman more by the shoes she is wearing.

I have some news and I have to let you all know that on Tuesday I will be off at the Snowy Mountains for a wintery break. I have to admit that I haven't actually gone to the snow since forever and I do remember that the last time which I did, I was truly the most unfashionable person ever and remember getting my waterproof tracksuit (yes, it was a Tracksuit) from Target or some other dorky chainstore at the time and just to add in the fact that it wasn't even snowing properly so I looked a bit too enthusiastically overdressed anyways (gosh I am so lame). So right now, it has gotten to a point when I do care about fashion and do care about seeing actual snow and not just watery stuff and as a result I have that question which keeps on nagging in my head. What to wear? I know for an absolute fact: Snow gear isn't made to be fashionable. Sunglasses, beanies, and gloves are very fabulous to accesorise with but in terms of 'fabulous' parkas (notice inverted commas) and pants, I mean...what pants? Jeans? Trackies? Also, I am really curious and would love it if someone could help me out on this one...Would wearing a pair of Burberry Gumboots be suitable for the snow? Ooh and also are jeans alright? I know, silly questions but as they say that if you don't ask, you will never know. So email me with what you think I should wear on my feet and bottoms and I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Wish me luck.

So okay, we might not have any Topshop or H&M equivalent down in Australia but I know for a fact that it would be really superb if we did and I would also know that it will be so huge that everyone will end up wearing the same clothes thus it will become the next Supre in that process however, Sass and Bide have signed up with Topshop's latest range of designers to hit the floor in the upscale denim department alongside J brand jeans. Keep on watching for new updates because I'm excited.

Hi loves,
Please check out our "Iconic Street Style" and "Iconic Interviews" Page as there are many new goodies in store. We have many more interviews coming up, some big names include Sydney Socialite and designer, Tali Jatali and the wonderful Daniel Avakian and gorgeous local designer Valerie Tolosa, U.K fashion runway model Miggy, so keep watching that section for more up-close-and-personal (not really, we aren't really THAT nosy) interviews. If you have any personal faves or recommendations, please feel free to email us at theiconicfashionblog@yahoo.com and also keep the Iconic Street Style pics coming!! We're loving every moment of this and are hoping that you do as well. Love you all. Stay fabulous.

According to a major daily publication, "Sunglasses are the current "It" bag to women and the new fancy watch to men." Do you agree? I have to say that because it is so cold these days and there is plenty media around all ove, I suppose sunglasses not only appear as the latest 'it-bag' to us women, but also they are fabulous when coming face-to-face with great papaarzzi. Not that this ever happens to us.

I have to say that I literally laughed out loud when I saw photos of Anne Hathaway looking so fabulously hot after her messy break up (or clean break up with messed up man) just recently and I really do give credit to New York magazine for stating that "Looking good is the best revenge". I mean, I think I love it because I personally can relate to it and I am positive that many of you out there can agree with me. Sometimes when it comes to love and life, nothing beats getting your hair done, putting on some make up, wearing your best clothes and instead of eating the boxes of chocolate or the tubs of ice-cream, send a box or tub back to your ex along with a photograph of you looking super fabulous and a letter saying something like "In your face bitch. xx" and that's when you know that nothing can come between you and your Manolos. Bite it.

As you might already know (and if not, well...now you do) Comme des Garcons has collaborated with Louis Vuitton. As a celebratory tribute (perhaps) to Louis Vuitton's 30th year in Tokyo, Comme des Garcons designer Rei Kawakubo has designed a limited edition line of six handbags in the iconic monogram pattern. I'd personally say that these handbags are such art pieces and if I were to be a lucky person who owned one of them, I would never really take it out with me anywhere. There is this classic yet futuristic element to it (and we all know how much designers are in love with futuristic at the moment) and I would rather just leave it sitting in a glass box (where the hell will I find one of those?) than take it around with me. This picture gets enough weird looks as it is, and can you imagine if someone went strolling around with it? Proposterous!
If your loving the look or loving the art (shall I say), this collection wll be available to order at the Tokyo Comme des Garçons store from the 4th of September. Our menswear editor will be there during this period so there is many fashion news to come from Tokyo.

If there is anything more terrifying when it comes to wearing high heels than looking frumpy and horrid regardless of the height or not, it would have to be the concept of falling down in high heels! Here is an image from the first annual high-heel-a-thon in New York. I'm really worried for them. I hope they don't trip!

Other than the classic pump and platform, I have always felt safe when wearing a pair of peep-toe heels. There is something so dainty, so feminine and just oh-so-fabulous about these girly classics. I will never forget the one time I went to a party and met up with my friends and coincedently we were all wearing a pair of peep toe platforms by different fabulous designers in the same shade of patent black leather. It really was quite a Kodak moment. My best friend is also a huge fan of the Peep toe heels and with her being an acoustic/rock musician; you would think that she went for the more edgier styles but no, peep toe heels really do bring out the girly and fabulous side of us all. However, I do remember that one time when everyone wore peep toe heels. It was really annoying and thus came in the Louboutin Prive Pump. So why did we stop wearing these fabulous heels? Because everyone started wearing them...and we can't have that.

What do you think? I personally like it because it looks like it will fit in a whole lot more than the kitchen sink into it, even a pair of shoes or two and plus; I'm loving the soft leather which gives it that worn-but-chic look. Do you think it might give the Paddington and the Bay bag a run for the money in Iconic attributes? I'm not too sure but I think it makes a fabulous Nappy or Mother-like handbag and is a very nice statement to take to the beach or something of that sort. It is the Chloe Cyndi tote and retails for $2200 US dollars. Loves it.

I really don't know where exactly my readers are currently located. I, for one am in Australia and if you are also from Oz, you might have realised (well, actually its more of a slap in the face but anyway) it is so freezing cold every single day. Okay. Yes, I agree it is winter right now. But no, I don't agree why that should mean we are stuck wearing boring grey tones and why we should be spending our cash on this season stock when we would hardly be out wearing it. I find that winter is very 'whatever'. At the beginning of the season, I usually find that people dress up quite some bit for the weather. Think Burberry Coats, Balenciaga Cigarette skinny pants, Skivvies etc. But seriously! Have you noticed how this look sort of fizzes out by mid-season? Aka. Now? Well, I have. We tend to dress the same during the day. There really is only so many Winter shirts that I want to wear and there are only so many which I want to get in every effing winter colour. Would you agree? So, I say to sit back in your chair, grab a martini and enjoy the lovely swimwear sales online. I find it more constructive to your day and isn't that what we're always on about anyway? Moving forward and not being stuck in a style rut just because of the weather? Well, that's my belief anyways.

SYDNEY: Luxury online fashion retailer Le Black Book has secured an enviable position in the inaugural Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival (RSFF) roster. The e-boutique is set to be the only online retailer featured at the five-day public event, with an exclusive fashion show on August 12.
Founder Kath Purkis said she was thrilled when event organiser IMG Asia Pacific approached her with the proposition.
"I feel that the festival is a great promotional tool for designers and retailers," she said.
Le Black Book, which stocks labels such as Kirrily Johnston, Ellery, Daniel Avakian and Bowie, will stage a runway show at Sydney nightspot The Ivy. Laptops will be set up throughout the venue to allow guests to shop while viewing the latest spring/summer 2008/09 collections.
"This is an interactive initiative that will give the event a great point of difference," Purkis said.
IMG has yet to release an official schedule for RSFF.
Right now I am so in love with the idea of Romantic Bohemian Florals. This might be due to two reasons; one: Romance and Bohemian just seems like such a fantastical way of thinking, let alone dressing, or two: I just bought my very own rare Bohemian Woodstock dress from a vintage boutique and cannot wait for the next sunny day to wear it. Either way, I suppose it does make sense. There is something so romantic about dusty pastels, small florals, and everything else with the hint of a lost Bohemian. In short, it is really how I personally dress. Sort of. Obviously I have my days when I just have to put on the most sophisticated of all sophisticated outfits (just because I'm in the mood) but I will always let my hair down in the sense that I will have thin Suede beaded bracelets on, or a Pandora charm bracelet, or my hair will be messy and tousselled (a'la Kate Moss) or there will always be something about my look which is never really as high class as it should be. I suppose I just love the idea of a really non-chalant setting and high end designer clothes. Does that actually make sense? Or am I just giving myself an excuse to love this look?

I clicked onto my inbox and I saw the new Chloe dress on the right and it automatically reminded me of something. Something which I owned but it was not really a dress or clothing article of that sort. The verticla lines, the strange sleeve fastenings and I don't know how in the world it came to my mind, but doesn't this dress look suspiciously like the Chloe Bay Bag perhaps? Well, it does to me. Let me know what your thinking. This is quite strange. I am sure that like most unusual dresses, it probably looks better on than off, don't you think?

I have to say that when I was little, I had a dream of working in that big AMP building in the city as a secretary. Sounds pretty lame doesn't it? I bet you never knew that I once worked as a secretary or shall I say; 'Office Lady' for a real estate company as well. But to be completely honest with you, I never did it because I adored answering to customer service, and I never really had much of a fixation with houses or property either. I suppose the most fun thing ever about my part time job at the time was the concept of "Work-dressing" which really was a whole bunch of fun. I mean, it isn't really everyday when you can just walk into an office or around the city dressed head-to-toe in corporate gear. Think pencil skirts (before they were fashionable), pussy bow blouses, round toed heels, stockings; the works really, complete with office-lady manicure and coif. Sigh* It's been a long time since I last slipped on some corporate wear and I have to admit that although I get paid much less, and although I don't have to answer to much customer service...fashion has still managed to be very fun and that's definitely a good thing.

Is anyone sick of seeing a whole bunch of celebrities wearing the one-shoulder style? I have to admit that although I did love the look when it was first new, right now, I am hating the look because everywhere you look, you see it and it just isn't working for me. I suppose the day-dresses are quite nice but the evening wear ones, just plain boring now. There are only so many ways to wear the same style of dress in a different colour. Here I have found a few of my faves and not-so-faves. Just to let you know that I don't mind if you have a sudden urge to just run away like...now. You are in for a fashion rollercoaster ride. Don't say I didn't warn you.

We have to admit that sometimes we can fall into both designer traps (think spending a few hundreds on one piece) or into the more local cheap-as-cheaps-and-fabulous trap (spending a whole lot more on heaps of goodies) and we have found our latest target. Local Australian company, Sassi Sam has always had some fantabulously girly pieces and we have fallen in love with all of Sassi Sam's girly stuff which make really fabulous gifts and goodies which you can spoil yourself with. Check out our absolute favourite in the new jewellery section. And wait for it...its called "Label Whore" and a mere $42.50. What do you think about that? Check out the lovely sassisam.com to purchase a "Label Whore" necklace. Don't you love it? I know that we do.

Normally when people ask me what type of handbag is totally safe to buy this season, other than the general 'it-bags' (which really aren't that safe but your wardrobe will love you for), I would usually recommend an edgier and more unique version of a traditional classic. Think a pink Chanel quilted 2.55 re-issue or a Louis Vuitton Alma MM bag in a shocking red vernis; something of that sort anyway. This time however, I have found a fabulous brand which is doing exceptionally well with iconic handbags and I am loving every second of it all. One word. Prada. How fabulous is Prada's new collection of handbags? I love it. Just love it. There are enough styles to suit absolutely everyone and I have already started my collection. Forget about the Limited edition Prada Fairy bag and get one of these modernised classic styles instead. You will love every moment of it. This has led me to ask...are you feeling the Prada?

You might remember my little rant a few weeks (or months) ago where I was talking out loud about my little issue with flats and how hard it is to find the perfect pair for this season. Well, I was checking my email and a friend of mine who works at Salvatore Ferragamo sent me some fabulous images of their iconic flat shoe and that is when I literally slapped myself on the forehead because I realised how much I have always wanted this shoe and how ridiculous it was for me to forget it when I needed it most (in my update at the time). So here it is, a tribute to the Salvatore Ferragamo flat shoe. As you can tell, I've put more than enough images of it so you can drool with me, prepare to grab a pair during your lunch break and get your credit card ready or you can just choose to walk away quietly.

This is quite interesting stuff. Hardly ever do we question the authority of Anna Wintour but we don't really analyse it either. Pulitzer Prize winner Robin Givhan tells us what controversial editor Anna Wintour, is doing right; wrong and effectively. Have a read...
Wintour’s success stems from a balance of stereotypical masculine strength and feminine beauty.
The magazine's circulation is 1.2 million, a Vogue spokesman said, essentially what it was when Wintour took over two decades ago. She came to represent a new archetype for a fashion editor: a master of the universe who wears her power as comfortably and impeccably as Chanel couture. It's an intimidating combination because it implies that she is a woman who is accomplished in the so-called masculine art of war and still knows how to use all the stereotypically feminine wiles. She is a double threat.
Givhan’s stint at Vogue was surprisingly drama-free, though her personal style was upgraded.
I worked at Vogue briefly in 2000, a fact that always elicits the question: What was it like? I'm well aware that the questioner is breathlessly awaiting tales of free clothes, frantic assistants and hissy fits over cerulean blue belts. I hesitate to spoil the fantasy, but during my short stay I never witnessed any toddler-size temper tantrums. My colleagues did improve my standard of dress, although by example, not by mandate or largess.
Vogue attempts diversity in its pages … sort of.
During Wintour's tenure, Vogue has incorporated street trends into its pages. It has put its stamp of approval on what was once called hip-hop style and now is merely urban style. But it does so on its own terms, by, say, including Sean Combs in a couture fashion shoot as a Cary Grant type with a tan. (It struggles with bringing diversity to its pages, as do most fashion magazines.)
Female political figures make for the most compelling Vogue subjects.
The magazine is at its most provocative, though, when it turns its attention to personalities not typically associated with high fashion—Oprah Winfrey, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Cindy McCain, Condoleezza Rice. The resulting photographs are fascinating not because of any reality they reveal but because of the fantasy they unleash. Vogue sets its sights on an of-the-moment character and transforms her into an impossibly perfect version of herself.

Just for all you lovely readers to have a browse and a drool at. Thanks to Elvia Frances for letting me know how much she hearts them. Email me what you love as well so I can post it up on Iconic Blog on your behalf. Enjoy!

I received a lovely email during the weekend about "Buying one's first designer handbag" and "which to choose?". I think it is a really cute question that everyone will think about one time or another. I remember my first designer handbag, it was a small Louis Vuitton white Monogram canvas Pouchette featuring the very funky (at the time, I was only 15) white and multicolour monogram. Funny enough, I still own it and will never forget begging my mother to buy it for me before stringing it around with me everywhere. And yes, that was my first designer handbag experience which led to a cascade of more designer handbag experiences after that. I think the most important thing when it comes to designer handbags is the question of "How much do you love it?" and "How often will you wear it?" and "Does it suit your style?" because the last thing you want is to splash out a few hundred dollars or a grand on something which you love but does not really suit the way you dress thus marginalising the-taking-out-of-this-handbag to special events and only some weekends thing which really does suck. I personally would do a classic design as a safe first choice. Think Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Mulberry and Prada etc. Overall, I guess that if you are willing to work and save for it, you learn the monetary and quality and craftsmanship value of the product making it far more valuable commercially and also much more valuable and meaningful personally which will always be a good thing.

Just for the record, we never endorse in products or clothes or shoes that we don't believe in or secretly don't want ourselves. To do something like that, we feel is plain bull-. But we have to say that right now, we have fallen in love with Le Black Book e-boutique's new introduction of Daviseyes dresses and according to our imagination, the only Daviseyes in Oz available to purchase by this designer by this one and only fabulous online store. Get in quick, the designs are fresh off the racks and still warm.

Gorgeous reality television star; Kim Kardashian is said to be in the works to release her own scent in this near future. She has joined up with the company who assists Christian Audigier and True Religion frangrances. There is no word about the notes which may be embodied in her perfume, but we'll wait patiently before we judge her, shall we?

I have to tell you all about some fabulous news which just headed my way. You see, my birthday is on the 25th of February (which has already passed I know!) but the next year's February is coming up in a long while I know however it will be a very special birthday because I am turning a big something-something, I don't want to give away my age too soon and a friend of mine was going to go on Contiki tours to Europe and I was going to tag along with her. Well, to cut a long story short; my dear lovely Mother has offered me instead; a trip to New York AND a Chanel quilted handbag to add to my collection. Pretty neat isn't it? And they say that dreams cannot come true. It just takes a bit of patience and some time, not to forget the sugar and cherry on top.

I was out on the weekend just shopping around the delightful Paddington and I came across Peep Toe shoes. I always knew the store was there but what really puzzled me I suppose was the iconic Louboutin worthy red sole which I recognised instantly. I was rather confused but walked in anyways. I have to admit that I did fall in love with the signature classic styles and yes, I did walk out with a pair but I'm curious to know your thoughts. A pair of Peep Toe heels at $220 with a signature red sole? Yay or nay? Are we ripping off the Louboutin or are we loving the local flavour? Share your thoughts.

I swear that if I ever have a child, I will make her/him the best looking and the best dressed kid on the block. It'll be like those kids who are so freakishly well dressed you know? Well, maybe not to that extent (or maybe over it) and right now you might be thinking what-the-hell-is-this-woman-on-about but I just have to say that when I had a look at baby Dior and the gorgeous little goodies which were in store for the little tots... how could I resist? I read in an article somewhere that children are being the next targets of designer materialism and being spoiled rotten with these pricey goodies. Oh well, in the mere future; when your son or daughter is toting a mini Valentino or wearing Collette Dinnagan for children, you'll know that she or he is probably onto a good thing.

I had a look at Louis Vuitton's latest offerings and it seems as though this luxury brand has a current fetish for khaki inspired designs! You can probably guess my reaction when I had a look at it however, it is Louis Vuitton and it is definitely an interesting way to pump up a new range of handbags. I personally was not too much of a fan when the denim monogram Louis Vuitton bags came out and Khaki really isn't my thing either. If it does anything fashionable (other than the fact it is a true L.V piece- ugly or beautiful as that sounds), I have to admit that the bangles do make a very quirkly accesory statement and are also a great conversation starter.

At Iconic, we all love Gossip Girl and was so sad when the season ended (one hell of a long time ago, they are currently filming the next season as we speak) however, we cannot forget that super pretty floral Ralph Lauren dress which Serena Van Der Woodsen wore at her dear Mother's fourth wedding. And only because we were super curious; we managed to find out that on Ralph Lauren's website; it is on sale and fabulous at a mere $2999.00 reduced from $5998.00. Pretty snazzy isn't it. Go on. Buy it. I know that you, like us here, want it...badly.

I am not usually one to suddenly wake up and think "I am going to paint my lips a hot fuschia and wear purple mascara because I want to channel the 80's look today!" but I was browsing online before and have noticed a little make up trend which some of you lovely readers might be interested in (as in doing or just reading about). It seems as though that fluro-retro-electro stage has finally passed (thank goodness) but this trend seems to be popping up in the fabulous world of make up especially when it comes to the eyes. I have to say that I'd rather neon or fluro highlighter shades on my shoes and definitely not on my jewellery, thankyou very much and yet this doesn't seem to be the case when it comes to eye makeup which is as loud and proud as a big yellow school bus. So, what do you think? Yay or nay?

One look or shall I say; one pair of shoes which I cannot wait to try out would have to be the treacherous (yes, I call it treacherous) Gladiator sandal. I don't know why but these flats are perhaps the new 'it' shoe of Spring/Summer and I just bought a fabulously rare Woodstock printed bohemian dress which would look just fabulous with these over-the-top shoes. I don't even mean the nice little ones which sort of end at the ankle. I mean the whoa-dude-where-has-your-leg-gone style which straps all the way up the lower thigh. Sounds pretty nasty. It channels Balenciaga's 'it' shoe a few seasons ago and already there are tween-celebrity fans. I have to say though...it does look quite painful. Maybe I should just stick to Carine Roifeld's abbreviated version? And another observation I made on the thigh high ones...beware of strange tan lines.

This season is so cold! There have been days where I have wanted to wear a vintage inspired Anna Sui dress with a pair of stockings and boots but it has just been way too cold and as a result, I look rather dishevelled and mismatched in the process. I have seriously resorted to layering knits and denim and chiffon pieces all on top of each other because it is just that cold. Not that, this is a bad look, but rather I have grown to like it. I usually begin my day with a Stella McCartney camisole, a thin Calvin Klein cardigan, a denim Rock and Republic vest on top of that and to top it off with an oversized Michael Kors knit, some basic denim Bettina Liano's and a pair of tan brogues. Metallics, chiffon, neutrals, leather, wool, denim and pearls tend to go very well together; suprisingly enough. I just hope I don't look like some big frumpy thing. No one has said anything about my look yet which means that amongst all the mismatching of brands and eccentrically cool layering of all sorts of fabrics...I must be doing something right.

Forget rings and chunky necklaces, right now I am absolutely lusting after a Missoni semi-precious bracelet to dress up a basic outfit with. It has that extra burst of colour and texture which will add something fabulous to any look. They kind of remind me of those hard boiled sugar sweets. At least these are fabulous and Missoni and they are too pretty to eat, so I'm pretty sure that I won't be tempted to shove them in my mouth. What do you think?

The shift dress has to be perhaps the most classic, timeless and most flattering style of dress ever. It is just reminiscent of Jackie O's timeless ladylike feminity. I would dress up this style with a new printed alternative complete with a pair of summery Louboutin strappy wedge heels, a pencil thin belt and a gorgeous bouffant to match. Not that we need reminding but outside is so cold and this look is just too fabulous for that weather.

Move over all you asymmetrical Posh bobs and thick fringes, there seems to be a new hair style in town and it was seen most prominently at the Chanel Couture show only yesterday. It was indeed that very iconic but not-sure-if-I-like-it-or-hate-it Anna Wintour bob. Love it because it is the hair of Fashion Industry Matriach but hate it because, other than that well...what's to like? Some say that Lagerfeld was sucking up to Wintour, others say it was a new look for Chanel with that quirky classic style. What do you think?

I really don't know or cannot remember where in the world I managed to find this cute pic but now that I have it, I have to say to you all isn't it just...fabulous? Such Pommy style with traces of a free spirit. I love it.

At Iconic we absolutely love what online designer boutique Le B
lack Book has on offer. Not only have we gotten a fabulous 20% discount shopping code ("Vogue") but we also have hunted down our top five favourite pieces which we will be sure to be on the lookout for. (Note that prices do not include the 20% discount).
1. Disaya short sleeved dress with cut out detail ($563.20): I love this dress a lot. It is sexy, sophisticated, grecian and such a modern classic on the traditional little black dress. The cut out is very sophisticated in a mildly futuristic way and the length is just very fun and flattering and perfect for a
great night out on the town. I'd pair it with a tailored Phillip Lim 3.1 tuxedo jacket and a pair of strappy Manolos for that night shift glamour.
2. Jessie Hill Angelic dress in cream ($345.50): This is such a perfect spring/summer daytime dress. It is just so picture perfect with clear romantic elements and a very whimsical vintage feel. It is such a soft piece so it would be fun dressing it up with a pair of gladiator sandals, gold Juicy Couture bangles and a textured Matthew Williamson mini vest for that effortless romantic appeal.
3. Rachel Gilbert Chevron jewelled black top ($264): This is such
a simple yet very fancy top. It is such a simple design yet the ruffles and texture is just overtly intricate and very mod which will look fabulous at night with a pair of black Balenciaga ciagarette pants and a patent leather and metallic Jimmy Choo handbag for that modern New York style.
4. Senada Theory silk cotton print dress ($632): I absolutely adore this dress. It really is on my to-buy list. It has these gorgeous vintage print accents with hints of a lost bohemian. It is such a transeasonal piece which will look great this fall/winter season with some opaque
stockings and classic black flats or Edwardian boots, and for the more summery months, it would look ever-so-perfect with a pair of tough studded sandals and the brown fringed Prada handbag for that Boho chic glamour.
5. Sretsis Rose storm button front dress white rose ($270): This is such a fave fashion work choice piece. It features the glamorously feminine pussy bow which is such a timeless style to have anywhere amongst the beautiful print for that modern whimsical effect. I'd wear it with a pair of French Sole flats or a pair of classic Louboutin pumps for
that workwear chic.

An Iconic reader and face book friend noted the Leiber Austrian crystal clutch which was oh-so-iconic in SATC and she sent me a fabulous link to the Judith Leiber website with all the other amazing designer clutches and jewellery on store. And which is her favourite? The “exclusive Leiber Precious Rose” which seems “more me" and much lovelier! And to pair it off with the Roger Vivier Rock 'N' Rose stilettos” for that fabulous feminine edge. I really do agree with you on that one as well. What can I say? A Leiber clutch will always be a Leiber clutch.

Sales are quite strange don’t you think? You never really know what will be on sale, all you do know is that something is on sale and for all I know, something is most definitely better than nothing, at times anyways. I was browsing handbags on an online luxury goods store and it is sort of funny to see the less popular interpretations of signature styles, like the Fendi Spy and the Paddington by Chloe being sold in the weird and wacky (and wonderful?) styles which are less common and therefore less popular since they are indeed on sale. Or not? Well, I personally am quite a traditionalist starting from…today, so you can’t expect me to embrace these fashion fabulous goodies on sale or not because the strange textures and the unique tones just really aren’t my type. What’s your excuse?

Okay, we totally admit that we love Andre Leon Talley. I mean; he is a wonderful second-to-best figurehead at Vogue after the wonderful Anna Wintour and yes; there are times when we disagree with Wintour's fashion choosings but either way; she is 'the' Anna Wintour and we are Iconic so there you have the justification of reasoning for that one. But, what about Andre Leon Talley's weird fashion obsession with turbans? We aren't quite convinced it is a personally fabulous look, but it is definitely different and sometimes the fashion world needs a bit of different. But turbans? It migbht become a mens fashion trend! Thank goodness its just Andre Leon Talley (or is it?). Otherwise, I don't know what we'd all do.

New York Fashion Week might be one of the biggest fashion events ever. It seems as singer-turned-designer Victoria Beckham may be releasing her first fancy dress collection at New York Fashion Week. This will continue as a huge quote which will let you decide the verdict yourself: "It'll be something completely different from what I've ever done. (Iconic: "Oh really? How so?") I'm just putting it together at the moment but they will be upscale dresses...(Iconic: "How much do you plan on selling you creations?") They will be very upscale dresses and likely will start at around $1200 retail. I'm going to be using very expensive fabrics and finishes. Lots of embroideries." Well, I hope whatever it is turns out to be good. I mean, Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B dresses don't even start at that much!

If you all love reading fabulous blogs and you are planning a fabulous wedding some time soon, or might even like the concept of looking up weddings and brides online (like myself), I suggest you check out brides.com as the lovely Vera Wang is the guest blogger for now after just releasing her new website: www.verawangonweddings.com which is just so fresh and very chic with an insight to planning your own designer wedding complete with a showcase of gowns, a bridal registry and a unique ideas and inspirations suggestion by the queen of bridal-wear herself. This site is just something fun to be checking out (and imagining for yourself) which will cater for all brides-to-be, bridesmaids, and brides-not-now-but-one-day. Trust me, its all quite good fun.

He is so inspirational that Donatella Versace based her Spring 09 Menswear collection on the man himself. Versaec called Obama "the man of the moment" and she stated that her collection was for "A relaxed man who doesn't need to flex muscles to show he has power". Oh, we do like the sound of that. In this collection, there were no ties which came along with the suits made with slim lapels in very shiny fabrics (a star in the rising? the shining star?). Many shirts were worn with rolled up sleeves for that effortless look. On a final note, Versace did leave us all to ponder with one more practical fashion advice to dear Obama and that was "I would get rid of the tie and jazz up the shirt." And that is fabulous Donatella Versace for you all ladies and gentlemen.

Well not really, but since her fashion styling debut on SATC, this fashion savvy woman is hot off the shelves (as if you didn't guess it already!) Her clothing lines, and fabulous sense of style might be something money can or cant buy but now Patricia Field has launched limited edition diet coke bottles which she has designed and they are unfortunately all sold out and only available online or from Selfridges and not only that, they cost $100 a pop. Do you remember that fabulous jewelled cupcake purse which was featured in the SATC movie? Well, I have done my dose of research and it appears that this fabulous creation may indeed be already sold out! The Leiber Strawyberry cucpake clutch was a limited edition release which was fabulously covered in hand glued Austrian crystals and has since sold out online at Neiman Marcus but lucky for you; Lieber has since released two other Cupcake clutches which I think are just as perfect. If you are in love with it (just as I am), I suggest you (like me) think again. It is about $4295.00 and trust me. It is easier said that done.

Viktor and Rolf have updated their flowerbomb and Antidote fragrance bottles with some fabulous limited edition bottles in honour of their show in the Berbican art gallery in London. The illustrator François Berthoud created the artwork which is gorgeously engraved on each bottle where Antidote depicts the designers and Flowerbomb outlines the dolls. Pretty neat.

Talk about fast news. Kate Moss launched a new fragrance just days ago called "Velvet Hour", unfortunately for us, or everyone; no one really knows what this perfume smells like as not much has been revealed about the fragrance except the ad campaign which was photographed by Mert & Marcus and posted in a fashion forum. By the look of it; it seems quite Chopard-like slash Midnight fantasy by Britney Spears. What do you think?

Written by Lisa Chau. Images courtesy of Mert & Marcus.
She totally lost George Clooney but as a result; she managed to land her first ad campaign with Christian Audigier. Pretty fabulous...no? Sarah Larson- infamous for her role as Clooney's longest girlfriend has managed to score a role to participate in Audigier's new campaign. The designer told People magazine "She is a fresh, elegant, and classy girl. I saw her on a red carpet and liked her style and European look." But judging on what we know about Audigier's style (very Ed Hardy), we are unsure how it will work. Perhaps it is all about some fashion...contrasts? Let's just say that we can't wait to see Larson tackle a more casual hard edged look.

It seems as though the icons of fragrances are catching up with the fashion ad campaigns in the replacement of faces for new and old promotional advertisements. Keira Knightley has been duped by Coco Mademoiselle fragrance for the 18 year old Emma Watson. The Mail on Sunday said "Once it became clear she is growing into a beautiful young woman and wears the Chanel brand so elegantly, they had to sign her up". Rumour has it that Chanel had anticipated that Watson was the right girl for the job by dressing her in Chanel for red carpet events and seeing how it pulled off. I have to say that I am rather envious right now but Watson is a fabulous Chanel choice as she is dressed by the fashion house almost all the time and can most definitely pull off the couture, which I suppose is vital not just in fashion but in fragrance-endorsement. I mean, that is what the 6 million dollars is being spent on right?

Check out Georg Jensen's latest jewellery collection which is just really cute and fabulous featuring Daisies as an icon with a splash of washed out tones. I like it as I feel it has a very realistic fantasy element to it...in a very nostalgic way.

Sure it isn't Valentines Day but I have noticed the iconic heart being a symbolic element in quicky and whimsical clothing and accesories. It is not really an 80's revival but more suited to those girly and pure romantics at heart. For those who aren't in a relationship, it is definitely a great way to show the world some love and for those who are in a good relationship; I only have one suggestion and that is not to overdo it...you might just scare him away with your abruptness.

Right now I am absolutely loving my trench coat. It is just one of those wardrobe classics which yuo can be sure will never really look tacky or old and give a great impression all the time, a bit like a little black dress. It is just so fun to wear a Burberry coat and think that not only do I keep warm, but I am actually looking very oh-so-fabulous at the same time. Pretty neat isn't it? However, I cannot say the same for that little darling who was sitting opposite me in the train this morning, staring at me and my Burberry. I was smug at first and then it just got a tad annoying. Well, I'm sorry. It's not like anyone said jumpers were still fashionable right?

It is such a sombre and miserable day today. Not only reflective on the weather but also on the mood and the events which have happened (which I don't really want to mention as it does not relate to fashion). The skies are grey, the rain just splatters misery and it is just such a depressing day which should really be brightened up with a few gorgeous smiles and happy-go-lucky moods which can be epitomised just fabulously with some fresh bright scarves to stand out during this dull, dull day. Bright accesories are such a must have for this chilly winter season and where better to start than a fabulous colourful scarf? Sure, it might not change the way I personally feel about everything deep and depressing about life, but at least I know for sure that when I wear my patterned Pucci around my neck, it is definitely bringing some colour into my day and hopefully also into someone elses.

Question:
Hi Lisa,
I am currently invited to an engagement party which has no particular dress code but it is hosted as a garden luncheon. I need help on what to wear because I don't want to look like a big flowery mess!! (I know a few women who will be going OTT on florals) I would like to keep it simple, classic and feminine but something which will get me noticed so it isn't TOO subtle. Can you please help?!
Marie.
Answer: I love a good engagement party. They are just so fun to dress up for and I totally understand what you mean about looking like a big flowery mess as I have seen it all before. Yes, I think keeping it simple, classic and feminine is a really gorgeous idea. If you want to upstage the Bride-to-be (which I hope you don't!) I would suggest wearing white but as we are just so nice, we'll slant sideways and go for some lovely Spring neutrals instead. With this look, simplicity and attention to detail is crucial. Simplicity should be evident in the design of the dress, the shoes, the bag etc. but attention to detail should be prominent in the accesories and the hair and makeup etc. in order to delicately balance the look. I love mixing neutrals with metallic based accesories. I think it gives the look the extra oomph it needs. Overall, I hope you have a fun time getting dressed up and remember to send me some photos!

Shopping for labels, shopping for love
Manolo and Louis, it’s all I’m thinking of
Shopping for labels, shopping for love
Manolo and Louis, it’s all I’m thinking of
I already know what my addiction is
I be looking for labels, I ain’t looking for love
I shop for purses while I walk out the door
Don’t cry, buy a bag and then get over it
And, I’m not concerned with all the politics (?)
It’s a lot of men I know I could find another one.
Oughta know that I’m always happy when I walk out the store, store
I’m guessing Supercalifragi-sexy, nothing to be playing with
I love him, hate him, kiss him, just I’m trying to walk a mile in my kicks
(Chorus)
Love’s like a runway but which one do I love more
No emotional baggage, just replace it with Dior
Love’s like a runway, so what’s all the fussing for
Let’s stop chasing them boys and shop some more
I know I might come off as negative
I be looking for labels, I ain’t looking for love
Relationships are often so hard to tame
A Prada dress has never broken my heart before
And, ________
I’mma do the damn thing, watch me do the damn thing
Cause I know that my credit card will help me put out the flames
I’m guessing Supercalifragi-sexy, nothing to be playing with
I love him, hate him, kiss him, just I’m trying to walk a mile in my kicks
[Chorus]
Gucci, Fendi, Prada purses, purchasing them finer things
Men they come a dime a dozen, just give me them diamond rings
I’m into a lot of bling, Cadallic, Chanel and Coach
Fellas boast but they can’t really handle my female approach
Buying things is hard to say
Rocking Christian Audigier, Manolo, Polo, taking photos in my Cartier
So we can’t go all the way, I know you might hate it but
I’m a shop for labels while them ladies lay and wait for love
What do you think??
I have to admit that I am probably one of the least organised people in this world. No matter how many things I write down, I always seem to just forget those smaller things which make all the difference. This is why I have figured that instead of writing all my notes and my to-do list in plain notebooks which I have lying all around the place, I will instead be saving up for a totally luxe Louis Vuitton Agenda. Sure it costs a tad more than my cheap notebooks put together but I know that because it is so fabulously luxurious; I am sure I won't leave it lying around all over the place and I know that I will also have a tendency to write a lot in it because I tend to judge a book by its cover and if the cover is fabulous, I am positive that everything I write in there will be just as fabulous, if not more. I mean, it is Louis Vuitton afterall.

I am really quite speechless on this trend. I mean, I thought the boot-sandal which was rather big this Fall/Winter season was pretty drastic and now this? It is funny because it seems just so...half and half. If you get my drift. Like seriously! As if you would really wake up in the morning, look out of the window and think "Ooh! It looks like a sunny day with a bit of cold wind, I'm going to wear my 3.1 Phillip Lim sock sandals because I cannot make up my mind on whether I should wear my boots or my flat sandals. Silly me!". No, that does not happen unfortunately and that is why I think the idea of a sock sandal is rather weird. But then again, fashion does some really strange things to the brain; so I hope you don't mind it, if you catch me in a pair of these, which I definitely hope is not anytime soon.

I have been to my share of fashion swap parties, however you might have seen Lindsay Lohan fronting the advertisements for Visa Swap and we managed to get a few exclusive images of her-looking rather grumpy and more "get-me-out-of-here" rather than second hand clothing creative. If there is any look which I will always love, it would have to be the trace of Bohemian as a classic piece. That is, before chainstores started killing the look but otherwise; it is still a major favourite of mine. I received an email from Betsey Johnson this morning with a little showcase of all these fabulously new cultured and bohemian inspired jewellery which is just so glamorous and very girly but really affordable. It is so beautiful and on my to-buy list right now. Oh well, I suppose it is really different to buy something totally Bohemian and to dress like a total bohemian. Which would you rather? It's just like they say: Money can't buy you style, but a few accesories here and there will definitely help along the way.

Calvin Klein, Anna Wintour, and André Leon Talley are hosting a cocktail party and dinner for Michelle Obama next week. Tickets to the cocktail party cost $1,000, a photo with Obama costs $2,300, and a seat at the dinner at Klein's house costs $10,000. A totally fashionably fabulous bargain. We'll totally be there...or not. Maybe next time.

It seems that the iconic Kate Moss is suddenly becoming downgraded in her ad campaigns. We remember her for notoriously taking the role as Face of Burberry thus booting Agyness Deyn out of the way, but it seems that with success in one thing, comes sacrifice in many little other ways. Agent Provocateur removed her from starring in the main campaign and instead booted her sideways into Agent Provaoateur's Bridal line and another thing we figured was that Kate Moss was doing the main Roberto Cavalli ad campaigns and now she has been once again shifted sideways into Just Cavalli. I don't know about you but we sort of feel sorry for her right now. What was once the highest paid model is now doing sideways shoots. After replacing Agyness Deyn has got us wondering; is it karma?

Illustrator Przemeck Sobocki tends to combine the best of fairytales with the most iconic fashion accesories to create incredible illustrations which feature a futuristically modern interpretation of fairytale classics. The works feature topics such as "Thumbelina and Sergio Rossi", "Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and Prada", "Cat woman and Gucci", "Tinkerbell and Jil Sander" and "Carmen and Marc Jacobs". Sigh. If only fairytales in our days were this fashionable. Goodbye Cinderella glass slipper, and welcome 21st century fashion.

I know that I have sworn to not follow the nasty footsteps of Lindsay Lohan but right now, there is really nothing more which I want than a pair of leather or lame leggings. I am sure Lindsay Lohan looks fabulous in a pair of signature leggings however, the image in my head which portrays the correct fashion effect if actually Victoria Beckham in her tight leather Grease-worthy leggings or pants which looked very uniquely chic and right now, I am just bursting in excitement because it looks really, really fashionably awesome. Well, according to me anyways. I suppose there really is a right or wrong way to wear leggings. I mean, it is definitely one thing to wear black leggings when your off jogging or at the gym but it is another thing to wear awesome leather leggings with a romantic lace camisole for that fabulous contrast and a pair of studded heels or even a pair of fantastic lame leggings which would replace the traditional stockings or tights under dresses look. If there is anything for sure other than the fact I really want them right now, it is that if a tweeny bopper store suddenly stocks up on them (you know what I'm referring to) I swear I will actually do something about it! No one comes between me and my lust-have product of the day!

My buzz for the SATC movie is totally frizzed out right now. It just seems such old news. The stores who are going so incredibly OTT for it are driving me insane because I swear that buying one dress will not make you any closer to being Charlotte than it is for Samantha to get married with a 60 year old man. Thankyou very much. I think they call it burn-out when one will look forward to something so much that once it happens, the excitement just dies away almost instantly...that is, until I received an email in my inbox this morning with a huge image of the "Something Blue" satin Manolo pump which Carrie is seen toting iconically toward the end of the film. I have to admit that as much as I hate to admit how my tummy totally did a flip flop as soon as I saw that pump which SATC fans will recognise miles away. Too bad for me. It is sold at $945 online and in the movie, it was only a mere $550. Yeah, I think I just lost the buzz once again.

For the U.K Esquire's 75th year Anniversary, it requested that eleven fashion designers were to recreate an original magazine cover from the sixties. Here, they boldly (or not so boldly) stand or fly in quirky positions which purely exemplifies their title as a fashion designer and with the likes of Miuccia Prada, Karl Lagerfeld and Vivienne Westwood; is it really as good as it will get? Or should our favourite designers just stick to designing? Only the covers and poses will tell.
